October 16, 2002 - Plane Hits Loading Bridge in Memphis MEMPHIS, Tennessee (USA) - A commuter jet taxiing across the Memphis International Airport airfield hit a loading bridge Tuesday, causing a fire on board but no injuries. There were no passengers aboard. ``It was being taxied to another part of the airfield after a routine maintenance check, and apparently the brakes failed and it ran into the bridge,'' said Larry Cox, president of the airport. Dave Jackson, a spokesman for the Minneapolis-based Mesaba Airlines, said the company is investigating the incident. Jackson said two mechanics and three crew members on board were unhurt. The accident caused a few delays, but no flights were canceled. |
