Date: 26 January 2003
Airline: VASP
Flight No.: TBA
Aircraft: Boeing 737-2M9(A)
Location: Rio Branco, Brazil
Fatalities: 0:94

The aircraft, on a flight from Belém and Manaus, crash-landed short of runway 06 at Rio Branco in poor weather conditions. On its landing in pre-dawn darkness and heavy fog, the aircraft then veered off the side of the runway where it presumably lost its entire undercarriage before colliding with trees and coming to rest

The Boeing skidded approximately 2,000 feet across the runway and came to a stop in the grass adjacent to the runway surface, suffering substantial damage. No serious injuries were reported among the 87 passengers and six crewmembers aboard.
